Job Description – Senior Litigation Attorney – Seattle

and in their careers. We are seeking a licensed attorney with at least 10 years’ experience
in litigation for our Seattle office. The successful litigator must exercise independent
judgment, and perform legal work on substantive environmental matters without direct

Experience Required:
Litigation Skills

– Court work. Motion practice on dispositive motions with supervision of
other attorneys and preparing other attorneys to argue such motions is
required. The expectation is that this attorney could argue nondispositive
motions (discovery disputes or others) without supervision.

Courtroom experience in at least one civil trial.
– Depositions. This attorney must have taken and defended depositions in
cases without supervision. Taking or defending expert depositions is
not required, but would be a plus.
– Discovery. This attorney must be able to draft and respond to discovery
requests without supervision. Must have experience working on
document review and production, preparation of an administrative
record or assembly of discovery documents, and the preparation of
privilege logs.

Senior Litigation Attorney

Environmental Experience (preferred, but not required)
10 or more years substantive experience in one (and preferably more
than one) of the following areas of environmental law: hazardous
waste clean up (CERCLA/MTCA); water quality (Clean Water Act
enforcement, §401 and/or §404 certifications); water rights;
SEPA/NEPA; nuisance claims arising from environmental
contamination or practices (waste water treatment or industrial
processing); endangered species (ESA); environmental insurance
coverage; air quality (CAA); environmental permitting and/or permit
violation defense; and energy facility siting (FERC and/or EFSEC).
Other Essential Job Duties
Our billable hour expectation is 1850 billable hours a year plus non-billable activities as
needed. This position would require occasional travel in order to provide excellent legal
service for firm clients.

The San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a part­time staff
attorney who would be responsible for supporting the Commercial Litigation
practice. Primary duties will include document analysis and review; drafting
pleadings; and supporting expert witnesses. Additionally, the attorney will be
responsible for drafting and arguing motions in state and federal court;
interacting with opposing counsel, co­defense counsel and clients on a regular
basis; researching relevant authorities; and, tracking case deadlines.

Position qualifications: a JD degree and active membership, in good
standing, in the California State bar; 3+ years of experience in a commercial
litigation practice; strong legal writing skills ­­ compelling brief writing is essential;
ability to meet deadlines; familiarity with antitrust litigation a plus, though not
required. The ability to work independently is required.
